Vincent Tomczyk’s paper sculptures exhibit a genuineness and truth in realism. He creates replicas of everyday objects and frees them of their material context in exchange for paper simulacra. The intent is to invite the viewer to consider the sentimental underpinnings between humanity and object without the distraction of its intended function. In this way, Tomczyk’s paper sculptures stand amidst the vernacular of realism in a dialogue with conceptualism.
