Renowned for her towering, monochromatic wooden walls, Louise Nevelson (1899–1988) redefined the relationship between sculpture and architectural space. Nevelson collected fragments of the everyday world—chair legs, moldings, and crates—and carefully arranged them inside wooden grid systems.
