Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980 Jim McHugh Studio Visits

November 11, 2011 - March 31, 2012

STUDIO VISITS is a series of artists' portraits and candid moments curated from the archives of photographer Jim McHugh. These photographs span over 3 decades, beginning in 1978 and continuing through the present. Many of the pictures are from the photographer's personal collection, vintage prints created on photographic materials that are now extinct. McHugh is considered a especially noted chronicler of contemporary West Coast artists. His collaboration with Abbeville Press and Chronicle Press for "California Painters: New Work" and "The Art of Light and Space" created unique views into the richly captivating world of the artist. What is most clear about these photographs is the great respect and exuberance the photographer holds for his subjects and their work.
