Rodger Stevens: Artist Studio Residency at Art & Design Museum, NYC
October 2016
Timothy Yarger Fine Art is pleased to announce that Rodger Stevens has been awarded an Artist Studio Residency at Art & Design Museum, NYC.
Stevens is a Brooklyn-born sculptor whose principle medium is wire. His work, though apparently abstract in nature, is firmly rooted in narrative and draws heavily upon literature, history, and personal experience. The objects he makes embody carefully wrought stories.
After earning degrees in both Economics and Fine Art, and spending six formative years at the Sotheby’s auction house in New York, Stevens is now an internationally-exhibited artist. His work resides in numerous private collections and the artist has also collaborated with esteemed corporate clients such as West Elm, Starbucks, The New Yorker, and Nike. Most recently Stevens was selected for a prestigious Artist Studio Residency at the Art & Design Museum of New York which begins this month.

Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary Hosts Charitable Exhibition at TYFA
June 16 - 18, 2016
On June 16th - 18th, TYFA hosted a charitable exhibition supporting the Perry J. Cohen Foundation and Young Entrepreneurs, featuring photographic works by lifetime photographer Kevin O’Leary. Fellow contributors Bernie Taupin, Lori Hyland, and gallery artist Udo Nöger also generously donated artwork for acquisition.
Mr. O’Leary was in attendance along with Pamela Cohen and Nick Korniloff, Perry’s mother and stepfather, to speak about the mission of the Perry J. Cohen Foundation - which is to educate and teach the best practices of boating safety, the protection and preservation of marine and wildlife environments, as well as advocating Teenage Entrepreneurship.
Perry Cohen’s story made international news last year when he and a dear friend went missing at sea off the coast of Florida. The foundation created in his honor has partnered with Mr. O’Leary in an effort to carry on Perry’s legacy as a teenage entrepreneur and lover of the arts. All proceeds from the sales of O'Leary's photographs are donated to the Foundation (www.pjcf.org) in support of its mission. O’Leary's “Irreconcilable Images” photography has been exhibited at international contemporary art fairs and will continue to be shown throughout 2016. TYFA's Beverly Hills neighbor, Hilton/Hyland, was a co-sponsor of the exhibition and charitable event.
Timothy Yarger Speaks at Molly Barnes' Lecture Series In NYC
May 12, 2016
For more that 20 years Molly Barnes has hosted a monthly gathering of art talks, part salon/art history and lecture series featuring artists, collectors, dealers, and curators.
On May 12th, she invited Tim to share stories about his career and to discuss influences and trends in the art market. We had a wonderful time and delighted with journalist Anthony Liversidge. Read his comments about the talk on his blog, Attend NYC:
"If there is one art gallery owner/dealer one would choose to represent one’s adventures in making art, it would be Tim Yarger, judging from his presentation this day at Molly Barnes’ famous bicoastal lunchtime salon at the Roger Smith. Not only was his portfolio consistently replete with artists operating at the highest level, from Sam Francis and Louise Nevelson to Udo Noger and Carole Feuerman, but why they might choose to cooperate with Yarger’s informed enthusiasm and reassuringly perceptive judgment in marketing their work in Los Angeles and around the world was pretty clear too – he himself is as individual in seeking self expression as any of his charges, and finds his work despite its management demands as much an adventure in its own way as when he first took it up, having decided that his position as lead trumpet in a symphony orchestra as well as in jazz was never going to match Dizzy Gillespie or Chet Baker. Typical was one of his first initiatives suggesting the first contemporary art exhibition in Thailand in 1995 where he had to carry 45 precious Picasso prints in the plane overhead bin into Bangkok and was rewarded by selling all of them but one. Clearly this is a man who will continue to dominate the Los Angeles scene as it explodes into the 100,000 square foot gallery level."

Juan Carlos Munoz Hernandez at ES MOAH, The Getty Graffiti Black Book Exhibition: Experience 11: SCRATCH
Sunday, June 8 2014 10am-5pm
Many of LA’s most influential graffiti and tattoo artists, including Juan Carlos Munoz Hernandez will covered the walls and floors of ESMoA to publicly launch their 21st century encounter with an artistic tradition: The Getty Graffiti Black Book.
In 2013 more than 150 of LA’s leading graffiti artists responded to a 16th century manuscript from the vaults of the Getty Research Institute called a liber amicorum (book of friends) by contributing works on paper to be bound into a single book and created the Getty Graffiti Black Book.
Street artists have used black books for decades to create a visual memory of drafts and to serve as a vehicle for the exchange of ideas. The extraordinary competition that occasionally arises among such artists can also lead to respect as rivals invite each other to “hit” their black books with original works. The contributing artists decided to give the Getty Black Book the title, LA Liber Amicorum, to capture the spirit of its transformation of rival ‘writing-crews’ into a Los Angeles Book of Friends.
ESMoA is the brainchild of Eva and Brian Sweeney – she an architect, he an entrepreneur, and together passionate collectors who have supported the arts through their Los Angeles/Berlin-based private art initiative artlab21 Foundation. Artlab21 Foundation is a non profit Public Benefit Corporation 501(c)(3). The specific purpose of artlab21 foundation is the promotion of education though art and appreciation of art.

Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980 Jim McHugh Studio Visits
November 11, 2011 - March 31, 2012
STUDIO VISITS is a series of artists' portraits and candid moments curated from the archives of photographer Jim McHugh. These photographs span over 3 decades, beginning in 1978 and continuing through the present. Many of the pictures are from the photographer's personal collection, vintage prints created on photographic materials that are now extinct. McHugh is considered a especially noted chronicler of contemporary West Coast artists. His collaboration with Abbeville Press and Chronicle Press for "California Painters: New Work" and "The Art of Light and Space" created unique views into the richly captivating world of the artist. What is most clear about these photographs is the great respect and exuberance the photographer holds for his subjects and their work.
